Q: How do I get rid of these fleas?
Where to begin with fleas..... the first step is to treat your pets and your house early as to prevent them from even getting their grubby little feet in the door.
Fleas are very hard to get rid of once they get established. For every adult flea you see there are up to 400 (at different life stages) living in your house with you.
So now you see what kind of a challange fleas are......
You 1st need to treat ALL pets in the house ( not exotics) with a topical flea prevention. We recommend Frontline Plus or Advantage. You will want to do this for a minimum of 6 months in a row. It may take longer depending on how bad your infestation is.
Now you need to get a house spray. We recommend Siphatrol Plus ,you can purchase it at our office. It is very close to the chemicals we used to have in the "old foggers", but this is way more effective as you apply it where you want it .
You need to vaccum often (once - twice a week) and remove your bag after each vaccuming.You can also vacuum up some flea powder into your bag to try and use the bag more than once. Spray with the house spray your whole house. Consentrate on the dark warm areas thats where fleas like to hide. They do not like bright light. Repeat the house spray once to twice a month initially then monthly for 2-3 treatments.
If you are determined and stick to your plan of treatment you will win!

Q: what is a "gentle leader"?
A "gental leader" is a training tool which your dog wears around his nose and neck. Think of it as a soft halter for your pet. If your dog is constantly pulling you around for a walk, instead of walking with you this will help you to get your dog under control. It will also help you be in better control when your dog is in a situation with other dogs. It is NOT a muzzle and your pet can wear it easily and it allows hime/her to pant, eat and drink with it on. If you would like to see how one works please stop by our office and we can show you one. We can also properly fit your dog and get you training dvd that will help you out at home.

Q: want to learn more about a "furminator"?
The furminator is the newest form of hair brush for dogs and cats. It works like a fine tooth comb to remove and strip away dead under coat leaving the healthy coat behind. It is easy to use with short to medium coated pets and makes grooming time a pleasure not a chore. It cuts your brushing time in half by removing the dead hair and you are not always spending more time emptying the brush. You will never have to buy another brush again. Q:Are your older pets getting a little stiff?
Lots of older pets start getting a little stiff just like us. We can take joint supplements and arthritus meds to help us out. Our pets have a hard time letting us know when they need a little something to help them out. There are lots of joint supplements on the market for our pets. We carry a variety of choices at our office and our support staff would be happy to help you find something that will take some of the pain away. Pain medicines are also available by prescription if your pet really can't get around these days. Our experienced veterinary staff can guide you and your family in choosing the right pain meds for your pets.
